Creating Perfect Posts in the Social Media World

As a book blogger, it is not uncommon for us to branch out and make connections using different forms of social media.  I can personally say that I utilize Facebook, Goodreads, Google+, Instagram, Tumblr, and Twitter.  That's six things OUTSIDE of my blog!!  How do we decide which ones to focus on and which platform will be the most effective in getting the word out and create those conversations that we are always trying to achieve.  Whether you are a hobby blogger or want more, social media is a must in the world of book blogging to help in building our sites to become bigger and better ... and, let's admit it, it can be a lot of fun!

When I began doing a bit of research on this very topic a couple of months ago, I was shared this amazing graphic from two fellow book bloggers (Ex Libris Bitsy and I Heart Monster).  Today, I share it with you.  Study it, then let's chat!!

After checking out this infographic filled with lots of information, what do you think?  What social media platforms have you found to be the most successful for your purposes?  Do you have any other tips that you feel are not included?

  1. This is a great infographic, and I love the idea of tailoring your post to the platform. I'm nowhere near a social media expert, but so often on Twitter I'll see things that are automatically cross-posted from FB (or wherever) that's some extremely unhelpful text with a link that I'm not enticed to click at all... I'd much rather read a "real" tweet.

    1. Charleen @ Cheap Thrills ... I do have my feed from Facebook automatically linked to Twitter, but you are right on the unhelpful text and links. I realized that one a while ago and now consciously take this into effect when I post something there now.

  2. I've definitely noticed some shares get a better response on FB than twitter, or vice versa. I guess it boils down to knowing your audience!

    1. Tasha Brandstatter ... Me too! I still am surprised at what gets responses and what doesn't (mainly on FB). Still learning here!

  3. This is really great information! Outside my blog I tend to use Twitter the most, I think I might have to take a peek at Google + and Pinterest, which I haven't been using.

    1. Shannon @ River City Reading ... Twitter is my main form of social media outside of my blog too. I am not connected with Pinterest for my blog, but I do wonder if it will be helpful.

  4. Great infographic! I find there are just too many social media aspects to keep up with! Seems there is another one every week!

  5. Becca Lostinbooks ... I know! There is always new things coming out. Some last, and some don't, and it's hard to tell in the beginning where they will fall and it is worth your time.

  6. Thanks for this, I've found it's difficult to find the right book bloggers and schedule book marketing in between client books. I use Buffer to schedule 3 or 4 profile postings ahead of time, it is great.

    1. Jennifer Lancaster ... I'm glad you found it helpful! We should probably also consider doing an updated version of this.
