LOVELY STEAMY BOOKS: Book Boyfriends by Naomi from Boys in Books are just Better

Today, let's welcome Naomi from Boys in Books are just Better. She is here to tell us about Book Boyfriends

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word romance? For most people it's love, relationships, or something along those lines. For me, it’s book-boyfriends. For people who don’t know what a book-boyfriend is, let me educate  you. To me, a book-boyfriend is a male character in a book that I find attractive both physically and personality wise. Mostly personality wise, because in most books that I read, I get a feel for the character by the way they talk and their actions, not the by short descriptive paragraph of their looks. All of the book-boyfriends that I am going to talk about have a specific personality trait that sets them apart from the others. Let me start out with one of my favorites, Daemon Black from the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

Daemon Black is protective, cocky, ambitious, and loving. All mixed together. And he also happens to be an alien made of light from a galaxy far, far away (Star Wars reference intended). He is the type of book-boyfriend that every book lover craves. He would do anything in the world to protect the people he loves and bears the consequences without a thought about it. Every action he makes is to protect the people he loves, whether or not they know it. He’s the secret knight in shining armor. Most people think he is a douchebag, but he really is a softy when it comes to certain people (cough, cough, Katy).

“Did you think you could stop me? I’ll burn the world down to save her.” ~Daemon Black

Kenji Kishimoto (Cue Fangirl Squeals), from the Shatter Me trilogy by Tahereh Mafi,  is the funny/amusing book-boyfriend that is perfect for a girl who loves to laugh and joke around. He flirts in an amusing and non offensive way that makes you want to laugh along and immediately be comfortable with. He is the one to come to make you feel better when you are feeling down. But he isn’t always goofing around. He knows when to stop joking and to be serious. He is always trying to support his loved ones and keep always keeps the atmosphere light hearted, even in tough times. And guess what. He’s single. ;)
“You know, you have a really strange way of telling me you’re attracted to me.” ~ Kenji Kishimoto

Aaron Warner, also from the Shatter Me trilogy, is what I would like to call The Beast and he justs needs a “beauty” to tame him. A beauty meaning a girl who is beautiful on the inside who can help him with the war raging on inside of himself. Book-boyfriends like Warner have a terrible past that made them stronger, but also have a hard shell around their heart to protect it. He is so scared to fall in love or feel any emotions at all, afraid that he will be left vulnerable and heartbroken, but when he finally does fall in love or even feels the slightest amount of positive emotions, he doesn’t back down. He loves passionately and forever. And then there is his love for fashion that makes him different from any other book-boyfriend I have ever read about.

“Books are easily destroyed, but words will live as long as people can remember them.” ~ Aaron Warner

Patch Cipriano, from the Hush Hush series by Becca Fitzpatrick, is the definition of an absolute bad boy with a fallen angel twist. He is mysterious and you never know what he is going to do next. He can be funny, but he just ends up sounding sarcastic and rude.

He can be infuriating, brooding, and sly, and uses his natural charm to get out of most things. Don’t get me wrong he does sound bad by the way he acts, but he isn’t all mean. When he find the right person, won’t ever let them go.
“The problem with human attraction is not knowing if it will be returned.” ~ Patch Cipriano

All book-boyfriends do have different personalities, but most of the ones that I have read fall under ones of these categories of either protective, funny, beastly, or mysterious. I do have to admit that all of the books I’ve mentioned are paranormal romance or something similar to it, but they are all really good reads, and I recommend all of them very highly. Two out of the three book series/trilogies I have read more than once, if that says anything and I plan on reading the third one again soon.

Book-boyfriends are what I read books for, to be really honest. I can read a book without a good romance in it, but it normally doesn’t end up being one of my favorites. The ironic part about me loving romance is that I don’t actually have a boyfriend. In my opinion, it’s harder for people who love romance books and have a lot of book-boyfriends to find an actual boyfriend. Mostly, because we have such high expectations for how he should act and look. After reading so many books with an almost perfect male character, it’s hard to go back to the real world.

Please give these wonderful books a read and I promise you won’t be disappointed. Who are your favorite book-boyfriends?
